SWIMSUITS!
SWIMSUITS!
SWIMSUITS!
This is a requested post by Deanna Mendoza, who is about to travel to Costa Rica this summer, and needed some help with finding the perfect chic swimsuit. I myself recently went swimsuit shopping and tried on a bikini for the first time and to my surprise looked really good in one, but I was sooo uncomfortable in it... so I bought a cute black one-piece. So buy what you'll be comfortable in and what looks good on you (and be honest with yourself), not just because it's cute. If not, you might look one of two things, awkward or funny looking.
Enjoy : )
Boutique Spotlight: Serendipity 3
My first visit to this boutique was after I visited the famed restaurant in NYC by the same name. (Try the frozen hot chocolate if you ever go!)
Owner Ruby Infante wanted this boutique to be reminiscent of the boutiques in big cities like New York City, LA and Miami and she does a great job of mixing different lines and brands that are affordable, yet chic.
Serendipity 3 carries brands like BB Dakota, Lauren Conrad, Blaque Label, Betseyville by Betsey Johnson, Gestuz, Vita accessories and other brands that other boutiques in Houston don't carry.
Check out Serendipity 3 on Facebook for updates about all the new accessories and clothing they get in the store.

Chloe Dao Spring 2010 Fashion Show
Urbane Times had the fortune to attend Chloe Dao's Spring 2010 Fashion Show "Lightness" benefiting the Fairy Godmother project last Saturday at Warehouse Live.
By: Vanessa and Jasmine
The show was one of the premier fashion events in Houston, and the who's who of the fashion community was definitely in the room. The show got started off with some great music from Divisi String quartet. When they played "Upgrade U" by Beyonce with their instruments, it was probably one of the coolest things we'd ever heard! It actually made Jasmine miss playing.
Then the fashions began. The show was filled with bright white and pastel dresses that could easily go from prom to wedding gowns. All the designs were very whimsical; with flowy sleeves, off-the-shoulder dresses, and clear Cinderella-like heels. The models were adorned with flowery side hats.
The entire show was streamed live. Here is the video. Chloe starts talking at 17:14.
We had a lot of fun at the show! We love supporting hometown women, and especially Chloe Dao. She posed for pictures and we were fortunate to get one with her. Chloe Dao is continuing to grow as a designer and this spring show was one of her biggest yet.

Urbane Times Exclusive: Johnny Cupcakes Interview
After standing for 3 1/2 hours yesterday at Crave Cupcakes to meet Mr. Johnny Cupcakes, I sat down with him for a couple of minutes and picked his brain about starting a business, and his favorite cupcake flavor.
Enjoy!
INSPIRATION.
STYLELIKEU.COM
Of all the fashion blogs out there at the moment StyleLikeU.com stands above the rest, thinks outside the box, and gives you something new and creative, yet it's such a simple idea. Have people talk about what's in their closet. I love this site because it lets you into a world I think every fashion lover wants to see. Maybe it's just me, but I'm always wanting to know what someone is wearing or where they got it from, especially if it's someone whose style I admire. Well, this site does that interviewing hip, cool, unique, even a little freaky New Yorkers. Check out the videos and enjoy : )

Cupcakin'
My younger sister, Enchantee first introduced me to Johnny Cupcakes. As an aspiring chef, and lover of fun t-shirts, she became obsessed.
The shirts are so cute and fun! Who doesn't love cupcakes and tshirts? I got a chance to visit the Johnny Cupcakes store on Melrose in LA last August to get some tees for my sister and now Mr. Cupcakes himself is coming to Houston as part of his Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour: Back to Basics.
He's bringing cupcakes back. (sorry for the bad joke!) No really, he's bringing 6 Limited Edition tees, surprises, freebies and good ole conversation with customers. How sweet it is.

Simon Fashion NOW
On Thursday, I attended the Simon Fashion Now fashion show with fashions from Saks, Billy Reid, M by Missoni, Barney's Co-Op, Versace, and some other stores.
The ice skating rink had been transformed into a sea of fashion lovers, Houston socialites, and a few people that wanted to be seen.
Delicious meatball skewers and dumplings were provided by Gigi's Asian Bistro and complimentary drinks were sponsored by Grey Goose. They had a couple of signature cocktails just for the event.
Among the great food and fashions were design lounges by Jimmy Choo and other designers.
Of course my camera died, but I did get a couple of videos captured with my Flip camera.

Show finale!
Don't forget that there are fashion events happening this entire weekend, so make your way to the Galleria to attend some of them!
